Civil Aviation Administration Finland
The CAA is responsible for Finland's airport network as well as the national air traffic control and navigation system. Its customers are the airlines, their passengers and all others involved in air transport. Over 13 million passengers and 96,000 tonnes of cargo were handled by Finland's 22 passenger airports in 2003.
Targets for general operations and profits are set by the central government, but the CAA is free to make its own decisions on finance and investment. As Finland's official aviation body, the CAA is responsible for air safety and air transport policy in co-operation with the relevant departments of state. Under its new strategy, the CAA actively seeks air travel growth by promoting diversity within the air transport market and by attracting new customer segments to the market. The CAA has a highly motivated, professional staff who take their responsibilities seriously. The CAA is an attractive employer that invests in improving staff skills. An average of 1,803 persons (1,816 in 2002) were employed by the CAA in 2003.
